Eve Bannister Spencer

Eve Bannister Spencer (nee McRoberts), 91, passed away at home on September 4, 2024 in St. Charles, Missouri.  Beloved wife of the late Stanley R. Spencer, Sr, she is survived by her three children, Stanley, Jr., Robert, and Elizabeth. Eve was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Helen McRoberts and brother and sister-in-law of the late Robert H. and Annette McRoberts Jr., and sister-in-law to the late Calvin H. East, Sr.  Eve’s sister, Joyce East of South Carolina survives her as well as her loving nieces and nephews: Becky (Michael) Zaccarello, Calvin (Donna) East, Jr., Beth Skalla,  Bobby (Courtney) McRoberts, Laura (Doug) Kurtewicz, Molly (Helen) McRoberts, Angie (Web) Sant, and John (Meegan) McRoberts. Eve is also survived by her brother-in-law Richard and Kathy Spencer of Wenatchee, Washington and a nephew, Aaron Spencer.  Eve was a graduate of Mary Institute, Centenary College (NJ) and Washington University.  She taught elementary school for many years at St. James School in Decatur, Illinois.  Eve loved breeding welsh terriers and labs, riding horses, swimming, fishing, gardening, crafting, reading, tennis, and traveling.  Eve was also an entertaining storyteller.  More than anything, Eve enjoyed spending time with her family and friends making memories.

Services: Visitation will be Monday, September 9th from 5pm - 7pm in the Great Hall at Ambruster Mortuary on Clayton Road; Funeral at The Church of St. Michael & St. George on Wydown at 10am Tuesday, September 10th.  Interment: Bellefontaine Cemetery, followed by a Reception Algonquin Country Club 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Saint Louis Zoo or the Missouri Botanical Garden would be appreciated.
