James Michael “Mike” Parker

James Michael Parker, affectionately known as Mike, passed away at home August 11th, 2024 from vascular dementia. Raised in rural Missouri he moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University. It was there that he met Penny, his wife of 57 years. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, a brotherhood he treasured throughout his lifetime.

Mike was a devoted father to his two children, Stephanie and Christopher, and a loving grandfather to Jamie, Abby, Lexie, Val, and Bella. Recently he became a great-grandfather to Charlotte and Juniper.

Professionally Mike was respected for his extensive knowledge of fine wines. He worked in the wholesale wine business for much of his career, and he was a mentor for many.

In his spare time he and Penny created Parkers’ Point Vineyard, a small acreage in the Ozark’s. There he grew Missouri varietals as well as some Cabernet.

In retirement Mike became a world traveler visiting a host of countries with Overseas Adventure Travel.

It has been said that one cannot have it all, but in many ways Mike did. He led a full and happy life, and he will be missed!

No service will be held as Mike felt very blessed to be able to participate in his daughter’s recent wedding and to go on a family vacation in July. The family considers these gifts to be his “Swan song”.
