Eric G. Rucker

Eric G. Rucker was born on July 2, 1993, in St. Louis, MO. He is the son of Christina Holley and Brian Seals. He was the youngest child of siblings Jamie M. Jones (Liam and Lorde) and April Rucker (Amarie and Adrian). He was married to Yevette Powers. They have three children. His son Julius, his daughters Emery and Autumn, and his daughter Lorelei on the way. Due on July 20th. His aunts and uncles: Cindy Holley, Katie Giesler (Chris), Arianne Kerr (Greg), Matthew Holley (Katy), and Jay Giesler will miss his infectious personality and smile. He has a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends that are too many to name.

At a young age Eric had a zest for life. His smile would light up the room. He was a loyal friend and would do anything for the people he considered family or a friend, and that remained true as an adult. If a family member or friend needed help, Eric would not hesitate to be there. He loved being around his family. Eric enjoyed music. He would always have his earbuds in his ear, with the volume loud, and a hat. He loved wearing his St. Louis hat to represent where he was from. He was proud to be from St. Louis. During his visits home, he would eat Imo’s Pizza, Chinese food, and White Castle.

Eric graduated boot camp at Ft. Benning, Georgia in July 2015. He moved through the ranks to Staff Sargent and received several awards and accommodations throughout his career. This year his unit 2nd Battalion, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment “Ghost Battalion” received the title of Top Gun for 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.  He had several deployments and always stayed focused on making sure his family was provided for. During his career he became close friends with SSG Kasaun Shaffer and SSG Mike McNamara. The bond he created with these two made them all brothers. They were considered family.

Eric was unapologetically himself. He did not tell you what you wanted to hear, but what you needed to hear. He was a headstrong individual that gave 110% in whatever he was tasked to do. He refused to lower his standards and expected nothing but the best out of everyone he met.

He loved riding motorcycles and was in the process of becoming a member of the Street Soldierz MC in Killeen, Tx.

Eric G. Rucker was tragically taken from this world on Sunday, June 11, 2023, by a hit and run driver. He leaves to cherish his memory, a host of family and friends that will honor his memory forever.
