Nicoletta E. Parato

Nicoletta E. Parato was born in Asti, Italy on July 26, 1931, the second child of John and Angela (Saracco) Parato. Growing up in Italy and Africa before coming to the United States, Nickie soon adapted to the new language and country earning diplomas from Miss Wallace’s School in Piedmont, California, and the University of Arizona, Tucson.

In St. Louis, she pursued a career in business, ultimately retiring from the brokerage company Smith Moore as Vice President and Head Cashier. Nickie was a diligent worker, but her greatest achievements were in being the strength and center of her family as the caretaker of her parents and the compass for her siblings. Nickie was the Italian “voice” on The Italian Hour Radio Program for years and among her charitable works was volunteering at the Grace Methodist food pantry, and knitting for newborns with the Knitters Guild.

Nickie is survived by her brother, Joe Parato, sister Tina Short and eight nieces: Angela Parato, Victoria Massoumi, Joan Parato, Mari Parato, Christina Hite, Nicky Short, Carla Short, and Mimi Short.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be only a private family interment, but a memorial celebration is planned for her in the Spring for friends and family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jesuits Central and Southern Province or the American Cancer Society.

The Family would like to invite you to share photos and memories of Nicoletta here on her Memorial page. Please submit your photos to AmbrusterChapel@yahoo.com.
