Hayden Blake Smith
On July 26, 1975, an angel entered this world by way of Booneville, MS. This sounds cliche, for sure, but everyone that has ever known Hayden Blake Smith can attest to the kind, gentle, compassionate, and caring man he lived his life to be. He was welcomed into life by his parents, Charles and Pamela Ann, his older brother Haven, and his grandparents Charles and Georgia Smith and Elwood and Quay Hall.
Hayden was a quiet, curious boy that loved Transformers, watching TV, and reading comic books.
In school Hayden was a straight-A student that loved to learn. In high school he discovered medical programs like Grey’s Anatomy and found a love for medicine and caring for others. Later, in medical school, that care extended into teaching and he became well-known as the go-to Anatomy tutor. His friends described him as articulate, friendly, and “like a rock star.”
In Memphis, TN Hayden delivered over 300 babies during his residency program. It was there he met his future husband before both of them relocated to St. Louis to work as an ER Director and Chief Medical Informatics Officer.
He married Matthew David Goad on October 17, 2015. The two have been together since 2007 and enjoyed travels all over the world.
On April 26, 2019 Hayden passed all to suddenly from acute liver failure under the incredible care of the medical team at Barnes-Jewish ICU. He leaves behind his husband, his four cats and a dog, his parents, his brother, his grandmother, and an immeasurable void that we can only fill with our love for him.
